Jill Scott: Work It Mommy Work It
Hidden Beach’s… mommy Jill Scott has had a busy year. This Beautifully Human has gotten a divorce, and dropped her new Cd “The Real Thing Word and Sounds Vol.3”. If there is a lost soul out there still asking “Who is Jill Scott?” that person can just turn on a radio, TV, internet, or go see the movie “ Why did I get married” and maybe this question will be answered defiantly. Jilly from Philly’s new Cd dropped on 9/25. This most anticipated work has not disappointed any of her fans. Debuting on Billboards #3 spot we know from the promising material that it contains that Jill Haters are really Hating on her. This 15 track Cd (which contains two bonus songs as well) comes at you from several different angles. Jill tackles the rock genre on her title cut “Real Thing”. Ms. Scott shows us her sexy side with “Come see me”, “All I”, and my favorite which is barely 2mins “Crown Royal”. I never thought in all my days to describe my prelude to greatness as a smooth cognac. I mean just check out the lyrics: “Your hands on my hips/bring me right back to you/catch that thrust give it right back to ya/your’e in so deep/I’m breathing for you/grab my braids/arch my back how for ya/your diesel engine/I’m squirting mad oil on…../ Mommy is really working it.
On “Insomnia” Jill is setting the stage for what some of us have experienced when a lover has been gone all night, and is revealed later on as a cheater. She is not afraid to let him know that he has taken her self worth and turned her “into a brick flying calling to DAYUM much” woman. The first single that has been released on her 3rd solo album is the thumping, gritty yet incredibly soulful “HATE ON ME”. Making a special appearance on the album is George Duke featured on “Whenever you’re around”. Exhibiting a vulnerable state with the song “Wanna be loved” Jill is putting on the table the wanting feelings of true LOVE that all of us possess. If you have not picked this up this Cd what have you been waiting on? Down here in NEOSOULVILLE we love the new look Jill is sporting... Happiness
